Cucamelon

Cucamelon – what an intriguing plant. Looks like a miniature watermelon and tastes of cucumber and citrus. Crunchy and zingy. We grew this two years in a row successfully and used these little delights in salads as well as a garnish for cocktails. Highly recommended!

The plant itself is great as a climbing plant for some trellis coverage. As said, two years in a row it grew very well and produced hundreds of cucamelons. This last year (2017) it did not grow as well, but other plants as well not as well as other years. Something to do with early heat in the year, followed by unexpected frost. It also took its toll on the grape vine growing this year, around our area. Hopefully next year will be better again!
